This week, we are featuring Annie Pettigrew, senior at Riverside High School in Decatur County, and daughter of JAG teacher, Janet Pettigrew! Annie is a member of the Riverside Dance Team, which brought home its first national title recently at the Universal Dance Association National Championships.. What year are you graduating? 2024

What have been some of your most memorable accomplishments in high school? My most memorable accomplishments in high school has been getting accepted into my dream school, Clemson University, and of course winning [UDA] nationals.

What other organizations/activities are you a part of? I am a part of the Riverside dance team and I am a dual enrollment student at UT Martin Parsons.

What are your specific plans after graduation? I plan to attend Clemson University on the pre med track, and hopefully go to medical school after.

What career field are you interested in and why? I am interested in gastroenterology because I want to be able to listen and help those with the same stomach problems as me.

How has the JAG program helped you reach these goals? JAG has helped me develop better communication skills and gain confidence in myself.

What advice would you give younger high school students thinking about joining JAG? I would tell them that JAG is definitely class all seniors should take to learn about how to deal with real-world situations. I have really learned so many important skills while in JAG!
